CAEFFECT Procedure

POM Statement

  • POM TREATLEV='treatment-level' <PREDOUT=predicted-outcome-value> <TREATPROB=predicted-treatment-probability> ;

The POM statement specifies a potential outcome mean to estimate. You must specify the following option in a POM statement:

TREATLEV='treatment-level'
TRTLEV='treatment-level'

specifies the level of the treatment variable that defines the potential outcome. If the treatment variable is a character variable, specify the treatment-level in quotes.

For more information about the definition of potential outcomes and the counterfactual framework to causal effect estimation, see the section Potential Outcomes and Effect Definitions.

Depending on the estimation method that you use, you can use the following options to specify variables in the input data table that contain precomputed model predictions:

PREDOUT=predicted-outcome-value

specifies the input variable that contains the predicted counterfactual outcome values for the specified treatment level. Predicted counterfactual outcomes are not used for the IPW estimation method. If you use the OUTCOMEMODEL statement to specify a previously fit model to use in computing counterfactual outcomes, the PREDOUT= option is ignored.

TREATPROB=predicted-treatment-probability
TRTPROB=predicted-treatment-probability

specifies the input variable that contains the predicted probability of having the specified level of treatment. Predicted treatment probabilities are not used for the REGADJ estimation method.
